Lua Sails

Lua Sails

This marks a significant moment in my photography journey, a sort of renaissance. I started with two Nikon DSLRs, the first of which I had to sell to alleviate financial strain. I then acquired a slight upgrade, only to part with it again due to severe financial constraints. However, when the time came for round three, I opted for something different, thanks to the influence of Elia Locardi and FStoppers. Instead of another DSLR, I chose the Fujifilm XT1, the top-of-the-line model at that time. It was a game-changer, revolutionizing my approach to photography. I kept the camera perpetually on manual mode, confident in the exposed image displayed right there on the viewfinder, exactly as it would appear in the final file.

This meant that the camera became my constant companion, accompanying me everywhere — in the car, at home, on walks, and beyond. One particular day, as I was driving home from work, I felt compelled to stop and capture a photo of the sails I spotted in the distance. I pulled over to the side of the road and began setting up my tripod. However, as I wrestled with the elements, getting soaked in the process, I realized that the effort might not yield the desired result. Disheartened, I returned to the shelter of my car. It was there, in the comfort of my vehicle, that I snapped a few photos as reference and to plan a better shot. And it was from those impromptu captures that this image emerged.
