Sunrise in Parksville

“Being on the west coast, it’s usually about the sunsets. But this time, we were facing east… so why not?”

This short timelapse captures a peaceful sunrise from a balcony in the PNW. Summer mornings come early here — the first light started around 5 AM, and the video runs for about an hour and a half.

It was shot entirely on an iPhone using the built-in timelapse mode, stabilized with a GorillaPod wrapped around the balcony railing. Simple gear, beautiful result.

The calm, the color shifts, and the slow rise of the sun over the water reminded me why it’s worth waking up before everything else does. The PNW is known for dramatic coastlines and late-day light shows, but this early-morning view was just as rewarding.
